The show was EXCELLENT! The audience was THRILLED. The positive feedback we received was WONDERFUL. It was a pleasure to see such an appreciative audience, and to see them transformed from hopeful skeptics into delighted participants. At the end of the evening guests returned to their homes with light hearts and big smiles, and almost $2500 was raised for physician recruitment. Thank you Petrolia Physiotherapy, and the many Brigden and St. Clair Township residents and businesses who supported this event. Community Car Rally

Smiling faces and happy chatter told us all we needed to know: The Community Car Rally for Physician Recruitment was everything it claimed it would be.

As a community event it brought together people form all walks of life, and it got three community credit unions working together for a common community goal.

As a fundraiser more than $15,000 directed toward physician recruitment in our community.

As an event it was FUN and well run.

Teams, many dressed in attire to suit their team names; names like ‘Burn Outs, Doc Finders, Smart Car Fun, Hawaii Four-O and Hosta La Vista’. They spent hours solving puzzles, riddles, trivia and routes. They collected odd items from hair ribbons to flower seeds. And they took pictures. Wow! Did they take pictures! Creativity and enthusiasm were the rule as teams got “their feet off the ground” or interpreted “that’s shocking”. A “kiss from someone in uniform” made lots of people happy. Then they returned to home base and relaxed with food, games and awards.

50/50 Lottery
Peter Westlake was all smiles on Saturday when he received a cheque for $9,495.   A two dollar investment paid off for the Georgetown plumber.   He bought his winning 50-50 lottery ticket #15128 from his mother-in-law, who owns Madeleines Hair Centre in Brigden. Read More.

Medieval Feast
On Saturday, May 5, 2007, The Society For Creative Anachronism brought a medieval feast and show to the Corunna Legion with proceeds to benefit The Physician Recruitment Taskforce.   One hundred guests were fed and entertained with an interactive evening of songs, dances and games.  Community sponsorship was generous, and the fun-filled event raised over $2,000 for physician recruitment in our community.  Thanks to all who helped make this a success!

Texas Hold'em Poker Tournament
The Taskforce's first ever poker tourney was a big success.   Forty-nine players came and we were able to pay out $1665 in prize money.     Players appreciated the soup bar included in their $40 buy-in cost, and all reports suggest that we'll make poker part of a regular line up of events, perhaps as early as October.   If you want to know more, or be advised of poker tournaments, send us a note to info@doctors4sarnialambton.com.
