WELCOME from the Physician Recruitment Taskforce. We are a group originally formed by the Chamber of Commerce to respond to the critical shortage of healthcare workers in our community. Our primary objective is to recruit Family Physicians. In the course of fulfilling our mandate, we also assist in the recruitment of specialists, nurses, physiotherapists and a variety of other primary healthcare workers.

Family Physicians are a vital component of service infrastructure. Adequate medical service is important to the well-being of our residents, and an element businesses, industries and professionals consider when choosing an operating location. It is important that we have adequate primary health care for everyone.

The Taskforce is comprised of a volunteer Board of Directors and one full-time staff member. Cindy Scholten, Physician Recruiter Coordinator, reports directly to the board.

The mission of the Taskforce is to recruit family physicians to Sarnia Lambton.

The vision of the Taskforce is to enhance primary health care in Sarnia Lambton.

The Sarnia Lambton Taskforce on Healthcare Worker Recruitment (also known as the Physician Recruitment Taskforce) was formed in 2001 by the Sarnia Lambton Chamber of Commerce. It was formed as a result of information provided by healthcare agencies and workers throughout the county.   The resounding refrain was: "WE NEED MORE HEALTHCARE WORKERS".

We have been recruiting ever since, and in addition to recruiting general practitioners, our reach has extended to assisting Bluewater Health acquire specialists. To date we have recruited 10 Family Physicians, and have several more showing real interest.

Our team will continue our community efforts to recruit healthcare workers until there is a "family doctor for every family" and we have the healthcare workers needed to provide the excellence in medical care this community deserves.
